Sherab Gyaltsen Rinpoche teaches on compassion in London 2013
From July 25th to 31st 2013, our London Buddhist centre hosted one of our great Diamond Way teachers, Sherab Gyaltsen Rinpoche. In London for almost a week, Rinpoche made full use of the time with a packed programme. The UK was the eighth country on Sherab Gyaltsen Rinpoche’s European tour in 2013.
Sherab Gyaltsen Rinpoche had heard about the move of the London Diamond Way Buddhist centre’s move from our previous house to the Beaufoy Institute, but had not yet seen the new Buddhist centre. On the first morning, Rinpoche was given a full tour, which for the new place takes 20-30 minutes. Rinpoche saw the results of the hard work that the sangha (Buddhist community) had been making to improve the condition of the building from its long-neglected state.
As on Sherab Gyaltsen Rinpoche’s first visit to London in 2009, he was kind enough to give not only detailed instructions on meditation, but also an empowerment into Loving Eyes (Tib. Chenresig). Rinpoche also blessed the large meditation hall of the Buddhist centre (first consecrated by H.H. 17th Karmapa, Trinley Thaye Dorje), and conducted a fire ritual in the courtyard.
Our UK Buddhist blog has a report of the teachings, fire ritual, inauguration, and empowerment that Rinpoche gave on this occasion:
The first event in the weekend’s official Dharma programme was a teaching by Rinpoche in the main hall of the Beaufoy Institute about the “Enlightened Attitude” (Skt. Bodhicitta), the compassionate wish to attain enlightenment for the benefit of all.
